Announcing Leader Digital Archive!

Collingsworth Public Library is pleased to announce the launch of its latest service to patrons via the internet. The Library in cooperation with the current publisher of the Leader, Chris Blackburn, has converted the existing microfilm copies of the Wellington Leader to digital format. The link to the archives is located on the library’s web page: www.collingsworthpubliclibrary.info.

Several years ago Mr. Henry Wells gave the microfilm collection to the Library so that the public would have greater access to the rich history contained in the newspapers. Since then the internet and technology have made huge advancements while at the same time the equipment and film became extinct and impossible to maintain. With this conversion, patrons can access over 70 years of Wellington Leaders from any computer with internet access.

The conversion makes locating information much easier; just type in a “name” or word you would like to find then read the articles that are found using those search terms. You can also select a time period and browse the newspapers from that time period. Printing can be done from your computer or you can order prints from the conversion company. If you have problems using the archive, use the help tab or call us and we’ll walk you through the instructions. Give it a try, treasures are waiting for you!

Testing

The library will be used as a WISD testing site the week of April 27 - 30. We will not be able to open the library each day until all students have completed their test. Please plan to make your library visits in the afternoon that week.

Online Resources?
What are they? How will they help me? How do I use them?
If you would like to learn more about the online resources the library offers via our website, then we want to hear from you. If you would like to know if your favorite author has a new book, use the genealogy resources, get medical information, read your favorite journals online, learn more about your next vacation destination then we want to set up a training session that will help you access those resources. Call or come by the library and let us know what you need to learn more about. Then we will set up training sessions to fit your needs. Please let us know what you need by April 24.

Winter Reading Festival Winner!

Several people joined the library staff on Monday, Feb. 23 for a booklovers celebration. Participants discussed books, their favorite authors and how much fun they had during the festival. After refreshments the drawing for the coveted Golden Bookends was held.

The winner was Brandi Weinette.

Make it a Reading Wonderland!

This winter…READ and be eligible to win great weekly prizes! The festival will finish with a book lovers celebration and the drawing for the golden bookends on February 23.

Registration must be completed in person. Participants must be 15 years or older, complete at least 10 hours of leisure reading per week, and submit their completed prize entry by 5:30 pm on each Tuesday for that week’s drawing.
